Kurt Schabes, DDS
Dr. Schabes graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University School of Dentistry and has practiced in Ada since 1985. Dr. Schabes is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (Honorary Dental Society), and Alpha Sigma Nu (National Jesuit Honor Society). He is also a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the Kent County Dental Society and the Chicago Dental Society. Dr. Schabes belongs to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and has attended numerous continuing education courses relative to all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry. He volunteers at both Mel Trotter Dental Clinic and Baxter Community Center Dental Clinic and has served on several medical/dental mission trips to Central America. Dr. Schabes works with Donated Dental Services of Kent County and the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped. He has been involved with the annual Grand Rapids Children's Museum Tooth Time Educational Event since 2004. Outside of the office Dr. Schabes enjoys spending time with his family along with reading, cycling, hiking and kayaking.
Tammy, DA - Dental Assistant
Tammy graduated from Heartlands Dental Assisting Program in 1987 and completed her radiology certification at Ferris State University in 1989. She has been practicing with Dr. Schabes since 2000 and has more 20 years of experience in chair side assisting including 11 years in an orthodontic practice. Tammy has attended a number of continuing education courses over the years dealing with clinical aspects of dental assisting and patient management. She also volunteers her time with Dr. Schabes at the Mel Trotter Dental Clinic in Grand Rapids and has been a part of the Tooth Time Event at the Grand Rapids Children's Museum for Children's Dental Health Month. Outside the office Tammy enjoys spending time with her family and attending her children's sporting events. She also enjoys camping with both family and friends.
Susan, RDH - Registered Dental Hygienist
Susan graduated from Lakeland Community College Dental Hygiene School in 1986. She has worked for Dr. Schabes since 2008. Susan enjoys staying current with the newest dental technology by attending continuing education seminars. Susan feels the most rewarding parts of being a hygienist are the relationships that develop with patients over time. She stays busy by attending the many athletic events her sons participate in.
Jennifer, RDH - Registered Dental Hygienist
Jennifer started her dental career graduating from Heartlands Institute of Technology for dental assisting in 2002. Her career paths lead her to Grand Rapids Community College to receive her Associates Degree in Applied Arts and Science for Dental Hygiene in 2007. Jennifer has continued her education and has received her license to administer nitrous oxide sedation and local anesthesia. She stays current by attending continuing education classes and dental seminars. Outside of the office Jennifer is a volunteer youth leader at her church. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and children.
Sara, RDH- Registered Dental Hygienist
Sarah began her dental career in 1997 as a dental assistant. She then went on to further her education with an Associates Degree in Applied Science, Dental Hygiene from Grand Rapids Community College in 2004. She is board certified to administer nitrous oxide. Sarah worked with Dr. Schabes first as a dental assistant in 2004 and then later as a dental hygienist. While working at a pediatric dental office, she had the opportunity to work with children with disabilities and special needs. She has voluteered in the community at Mel Trotter and at the Children's Museum during Toothtime as 'Ginger Vitis'. Sarah feels it is important to establish a positive relationship with her patients. To achieve this she continues to update her education by taking CE classes and seeking to understand her patients and their needs. Sarah enjoys spending time with her son and their dog, family and friends.
Kaley, RDH - Registered Dental Hygienist
Kaley received her degree in Applied Arts and Science for Dental Hygiene at Grand Rapids Community College in 2013. Kaley has worked for Dr. Schabes since 2014. She is certified in Nitrous Oxide Sedation and Local Anesthesia. Her goal is to make every dental experience pleasant. She stays current with the latest dental information by attending dental seminars and reading dental journals. Outside of work, Kaley enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two daughters.
Pam, Front Desk Staff
Pam is one of our Patient Care Coordinators. She received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Pam moved to Michigan in 1985 and has worked for Dr. Schabes since 1986. She enjoys volunteering and preparing for the Tooth Time Event held at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum every February. She enjoys furthering her education by attending dental seminars in office management and dental software. Pam is active in her church and enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys running, hiking, kayaking, and cycling.
Shelly, Front Desk Staff
Shelly is one of our Patient Care Coordinators who has been caring for patients at Ada Family Dentistry since 1991. She completed the dental assisting program at Grand Rapids Education Center. Shelly stays current in patient management and insurance processing to better help our patients maximize their dental benefits. Outside of the office, Shelly enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She attends her children’s marching band competitions and also enjoys photography and scrap booking in her spare time.
Kinda, Front Desk Staff
Kinda is one of our Patient Care Coordinators who has been caring for patients for 18 years. She graduated from Davenport University. Kinda has been with Dr. Schabes since spring of 2011. She keeps current by attending continuing education classes and dental seminars related to all aspects of patient services and dental insurance. Outside the office Kinda enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially while camping and enjoying the outdoors. Kinda especially loves and treasures the time she spends with her grandchildren.
